The Master Beekeepers Program consists of three levels: Apprentice Beekeeper, Journeyman Beekeeper and finally Master Beekeeper.
Beginning Beekeeping Class

The Rappahannock Beekeepers Association is offering Basic Beekeeping for Beginners. The class is intensive, meets once a week for approximately two months and is designed primarily for people who want to keep bees.

Diana Sammataro, The Beekeepers Handbook, 4th edition
Mid Atlantic Apiculture (MAAREC) Beekeeping Basics
Honey Bee Parasite, Pests, Predators, Diseases and handouts

Membership in Rappahannock Area Beekeepers Association and Virginia Beekeepers Association included
Classes will be taught by experienced beekeepers and will include information on buying equipment and obtaining bees to start honeybee colonies.

Class information and location: Classes will held at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library (Howell and Salem Church branches). The dates are from Feb 1 through Mar 29 from 1000AM to 1200PM.

Howell Branch: Feb 1 through Mar 8
Salem Church: Mar 15
Howell Branch: Mar 22 and Mar 29

Tuition is $100 per family unit. Classes are open to adults and children (age 10+ accompanied by a paying adult). Please register in advance to reserve your seat.
